Items we cannot accept

We greatly appreciate everyone who wants to donate to the Habitat ReStore, however we are not able to accept all items. Sometimes, the reason is related to safety concerns and other times it is for legal reasons or space constraints.

We also have found that we just can’t sell certain items (such as couches that have rips or stains and appliances that are older than your grandmother). When we do end up with these types of items, nobody buys them and we end up having to pay to dispose of the things we cannot recycle, repair or clean. This takes valuable time and money and inhibits our ability to raise much-needed funds for our mission.
We reserve the right to refuse items that do not meet our current donation guidelines and needs.

We cannot accept the following items:

Mattresses and box springs, baby items, hazardous materials and chemicals, clothing, used faucets, unframed mirrors and glass, boxed TVs, dishwashers over 2 years old, used water heaters,  guns and ammunition, lumber or trim under 6 ft in length or with nails, small quantities of tile or flooring, used tile or carpet, open paint cans, hospital beds, safety equipment, office cubicles, computers, bedding, and open/used roof shingles.

Our Donation Ambassadors are here to make your donation experience quick and convenient.  Please assist them in this effort by having your items easily accessible, preferably outside or in a garage, and ready to be loaded.  If any single item weighs more than 300 lbs., please have a helping hand available.  Our Donation Ambassadors cannot  unhook appliances or do any deconstruction.
