ReStore: Did You Know

    Did You know?

Our mission at Cape ReStore is to help communities by taking donated items and reselling those items to support our Habitat for Humanity in building affordable housing hard-working, low-income families.

    Why ReStore?

The Cape Habitat for Humanity helps us build Community by:

    • Generating revenue that is put directly back into Cape Habitat for Humanity programs and services
    •  Offering affordably priced and diverse selection of home improvement materials
    •  Supporting community development by offering affordable material and hosting community events

The Cape Habitat ReStore inventory changes every day thank to your donations. Drop off, used or new building materials, furniture, appliances, etc. at our ReStore Donation Center (2365 Rust Ave., Cape Girardeau) or call for pick up service at 573-651-9080.

Shop the store that helps build homes! You never know what you’re going to find for the selection varies depending on what has been donated. Every trip is different. What you see is not always what you end up with. Many shop at the ReStore to find items they can upcycle and transform into something new.

    Want To Volunteer?

Anyone and everyone willing to dedicate their time in our projects can volunteer with us. We welcome volunteers in any form; be it individual, group, corporate, or in a form of community services and internships. Please contact our office for details. We can't do it without you.

We strive to keep operating costs as low as possible to maximize the amount of money that goes directly to our community, and volunteers are one of the ways to achieve this. Volunteers also help ensure Cape Habitat ReStore is a great experience for donors and shoppers.

    The Groundbreaking

Cape Area Habitat for Humanity, hosted the groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, December 1, 2017 to launch a new Habitat home construction in Jackson at the home site on James Street. The Boyd family was finally ready to break ground; taking the first step of their journey.

The groundbreaking began at 12 p.m. at the lot. Many people from community joined the groundbreaking.

After a long wait, involving a tremendous community effort to help raise funds, the event commenced.

The Boyd family broke ground, their smiles of anticipation for the future crossed their faces. Not even the bleak winter atmosphere could not dull the excitement. Applauds resounded in congratulations.

A very special thanks to our sponsors and volunteers for all the hard work they put into this project. This groundbreaking ceremony was truly a huge success.
